Achilles Giannisis in the Porsche Esports Super Cup
Elite sim racing is demanding under any circumstances. Competing against the world’s best drivers requires talent, discipline, and thousands of hours of preparation. Doing so while balancing a full-time career is an entirely different challenge. This is the challenge that Achilles Giannisis has chosen to embrace.
In May 2026, Achilles entered the Porsche Esports Supercup [https://racing.porsche.com/series/porsche-esports-supercup], one of the world’s most prestigious sim racing competitions, hosted on the iRacing Simulator platform. More than 2,000 drivers from across the globe competed for a chance to reach the World Championship and ultimately earn the opportunity to become a real-world Porsche racing driver.
Unlike many of his competitors, sim racing is not Achilles’ full-time profession. While many of the leading esports drivers dedicate their entire day to training, telemetry analysis, setup optimization and race preparation, Achilles combines his passion for motorsport with a full-time office career. His preparation begins only after the working day ends, leaving just a few evening hours for practice during the week and longer sessions at weekends.
Even race days presented an additional challenge. During the Porsche the first stage of the championship (Porsche Global Open Qualifiers), Wednesday races started only minutes after his workday finished, leaving him just enough time to get home, prepare his simulator and join the grid.
Despite these limitations, Achilles never viewed the championship as an impossible mission. His philosophy was simple: “I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.” Whether the outcome was qualification or elimination, every lap represented an opportunity to improve, learn, and compete against some of the fastest sim racers in the world.
The effort paid off. After four demanding weeks of qualifying races, Achilles secured his place among the top 108 drivers worldwide, advancing to the second stage of the Championship (the Porsche Regional Championships).
Today, he competes in the Americas Regional Championship, racing against the 32 strongest drivers in the region for one of only eight places available in the Porsche Esports Supercup World Championship.
For Achilles, however, success is measured by more than results alone.
His journey demonstrates that passion, consistency, and determination can overcome limited preparation time. Every race is another opportunity to learn, improve, and push his limits not only as a sim racer, but as a competitor committed to continuous development.
